Free 2 Be Me Dance is a vehicle for freedom of expression through dance in a nonjudgmental environment.
Free 2 Be Me Dance aims to bring innovative individuals on board who are passionate about advancing the field of dance education. The Hip Hop Instructor and Marketing & Communications Coordinator will be an integral part of our team. The Hip Hop Instructor is integrated into the hip hop community and is able to provide the dancers with comprehensive histories and techniques in hip hop dance. The Hip Hop Instructor is also well-informed about social justice issues, including trauma-informed language and educational techniques. The instructor has a background in or is willing to learn about the latest research and techniques in dance education and working with people with disabilities.
The combined position is also responsible for the organization’s marketing plan and communications and outreach goals. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator assists the Program Coordinator and Director in creating content for all social media platforms, providing written content in English and Spanish, and producing other marketing materials as needed. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator also assists with daily operations and outreach efforts, including communicating with families on a weekly basis, marketing classes and recruiting and coordinating volunteers. Fluency in Spanish is required.

Job Responsibilities
General
- Understands the mission of Free 2 Be Me Dance and overall concept of the organization.
- Provides ideas for growth and improvement and communicates in respectful, collaborative conversation with others.
- Takes on projects and is eager to learn new skills as much as contribute their skills to the growth of the organization.
- Assists in the management and growth of the program.
Instruction
- Teach hip hop classes each semester.
- Find new and creative ways to engage students in hip hop culture and community.
- Organize and plan any outreach activities, such as hip hop performances, guest speakers or events related to hip hop.
Marketing
- Assist Program Coordinator/Director in researching and implementing a social media strategy to increase engagement with the organization.
- Take photos and videos during class and other important occasions for use on social media platforms.
- Provides English and Spanish social media posts and other marketing content.
Communications & Outreach
- Assist Program Coordinator and Director in weekly communications and outreach tasks, including:
- Recruiting & coordinating volunteers
- Assisting with student registration
- Parent/caregiver relations
- Gathering materials for classes and events
- Marketing the program through various mediums including print and digital ads
Required Skills
- English and Spanish fluency
- Immersion in the hip hop dance community
- Proficiency in basic computer technologies, including Microsoft, Google Drive and more.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Strong ability to work in a team environment
- Passion for creating an inclusive environment for all dancers
- Appropriate energy level for the combined position – able to lift 25 lbs and dance for 1-2 hours
Preferred Skills
- Previous administrative experience
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities
- Previous experience teaching dance
- Experience in the arts & healing field, such as therapeutic arts practices
